On June 1, 1926, a litle girl named, Norma Jeane Mortenson, came into this world. She was born in a charity ward, at the Los Angeles General Hospital, to Gladys Baker, and an unknown father. Norma Jeane was later babtised as Norma Jeane Baker. When she was 12 days old, Gladys sent Norma Jeane to live with Ida and Albert Bollender. She lived with them for many years. Gladys promised Norma Jeane, the they would someday get a house, and be able to live together.

Gladys soon suffered from a case of mental illness, and was put in an institution. With no money to pay the Bollenders', Norma Jeane went to live with her mother's friend, Grace McKee. Grace loved Norma Jeane, but when she became engaged, Grace had to put her in a foster home.

When Norma Jeane was 16, she married a man named Jim Dougherty . When she began posing for pictures, Jim became angry, and told her to either quit her job, or they would get a divorce.
Norma Jeane, did not want to quit posing, so Jim and Norma Jeane divorced in June of 1946.

On July 23, 1946, Norma Jeane signed a contract with 20th Century Fox, and changed her name to Marilyn Monroe.

In 1953, the film that made Marilyn a star, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes came to theatres. She sang songs like: Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend, Bye Bye Baby, and more!

In 1954, Marilyn went on a blind date with baseball star, Joe DiMaggio. She was sent to Korea to entertain American troops, and when she returned, her marriage made a rocky turn. During the filming of the Seven Year Itch, Joe and Marilyn divorced.

In 1956, Marilyn met a playwrite, named Arthur Miller. They were maried that year. Marilyn suffered 3 miscarriages through their marriage. For a gift, Arthur wrote Marilyn a script called "The Misfits" Clark Gable, Marilyn's childhood idle, starred in the film also. Soon after filming was done, Gable suffered a heart attack, and died. Marilyn was devastated, and for many days, thought she was the reason for his death. Marilyn and Arthur divorced that year.

In 1962, while filming Something's Got To Give, Marilyn left the set, to go to New York, and sing "Happy Birthday" to President Kennedy. When she came back, she was suspended from filming. Marilyn was found dead on August 5, 1962. Today, people still do not know how she died. Many believe it was the Kennedys', her doctor, her housemaid, the mafia, herself, or other people.

Marilyn is still one of the most beloved actresses, and her films will be watched, and enjoyed for many years to come!
